Pastor L. Gene Vaughn, Sr.

L. Gene Vaughn, Sr. is the oldest of four children born in 1974, to Rev. Randy and Brenda Vaughn. Rev Vaughn received his formal education in the Port Arthur Independent School District in Port Arthur Texas. Upon graduating from High School Rev. Vaughn attended American Baptist College in Nashville, TN where he received a BA in Pastor Care and Christian Education.

Rev. Vaughn accepted his call in to the Gospel Ministry at the age of seventeen while enrolled at the college. Rev. Vaughn has served as the Youth Pastor at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Nashville where Dr. Joseph W. Walker III, is the Pastor.

While serving at Mt. Zion as Youth Pastor Rev. Vaughn received the call from the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Clarksville TN. Rev. Vaughn served the Mt. Olive Baptist Church for about 18 months, when he was motivated to move to the next level in Ministry. God began to challenge Rev. Vaughn to challenge the people of God to live by the SPIRIT, for “where the Spirit of the Lord is there is LIBERTY”. Thus in October of 2000 The Liberty Church was formed. Rev. Vaughn enjoys reading and playing sports, he has a strong passion for youth and young adults, to be better educated in the knowledge of Jesus Christ and to live a life of LIBERTY. Rev. Vaughn is married to Karen Vaughn and has three sons: Lawrence Gene Vaughn, II, and the twins, Lance & Landen.
